I was watching Glee this evening and had a few thoughts, first of all I thought it was great when Finn was singing to “his” unborn child, I know that someday when I am about to be a father I will probably do the same. Second, I wanted to comment on how Quinn’s parents reacted to her being pregnant. As I have mentioned previously I am not a parent so I do not know exactly how I will react when something like this will happen. Although I do know that I couldn’t in good conscience tell my child to get out. I’m a bigger fan of natural consequences. I find that life often does a better job of solving problems than anything I could ever come up with. Besides, to me part of being family is standing by those we love even when they make mistakes.
It doesn’t mean that we have to agree with what they do or even be a party to their decisions, but I think in the true nature of living a Christ like life is to do all things in love. I know it is a hard balance between adhering to the laws that God have set for us and loving individuals when they make poor decisions. But I strongly feel that despite the difficulty that we can make decisions that will do the most good for not only ourselves but also for those that we love.
